The Rodeo is a real Allrounder. For the first time a paraglider, for really light pilots or female pilots with a body weight about 50 kg which would like to have once a paraglider with them with windy relations can fly with the other. Or as a strong windglider for pilots also with wind speeds of more than 40 km/h still want to fly. And not least as a Racer with the engine aviation. Our test have brought in the Paramotor a very good result. In the light version goes to scale to the rodeo just scarcely more than 3 kg. The high flight rest in spite of the low surface, make HIM just to the allrounder.

We test the RODEO very very hard. and we are quite happy with the result.
The certification will coming soon.

We have counted with the rodeo in our prize calculation hard. So that he is also affordable as a second wing.

On the 21st of April, Philippe Sicardi and his passenger flew 186 km on his Airwave TANDEM.
They launched in Marlenes (France), crossed the Saint Eynard near
Grenoble and then flew to Parmelan near Annecy. After 7 hours they landed, happly back in Marlenes.
Congratulations from the Airwave team to the great flight!
Because of a lot of inquiries.

Bruce Goldsmith has been working in the Airwave design team for nearly 10 years now and will be leaving Airwave at the end of his contract in spring 2010. The last ten years have been very successful for Airwave and now both Airwave and Bruce mutually agree that it is 'simply time for a change'. Over the last years Bruce has trained a young and motivated design team at Airwave which has been heavily involved in the design and testing of the current Airwave gliders. On top of that Airwave hired Mario Eder, who was a long time professional test pilot for major brands and is the former technical director and chief test pilot at the "European Para Academy" (official test laboratory for EN / LTF certifications in Germany). This team will be responsible for new develop- ments at Airwave while Bruce will be joining the Advance development team. We thank Bruce for the good work and relationship and we all of Airwave wish him all the best for his new job.

We are happy to announce the SPORT-Competition which is the "tuned up" race version of the SPORT 4 with many performance enhancing features typically reserved for open class competition gliders.

Rodeo - Airwave's special strong wind glider

Rodeo - that usually stands for turbulent rides on wild horses. Airwave designers around Bruce Goldsmith have well tamed their new speed glider Rodeo: a fascinating and unusual wing, that incorporates the characteristics of a speedflyer with those of a beginner's glider. The Rodeo is exceptionally fast with great performance and outstandingly safe. It was designed for pilots who love to soar on windy ridges and dunes as well as in alpine regions, feeling the performance and safety. Last week Markus Villinger, the owner of Airwave, went on a flying holiday to Namibia with the legendary Austrian pilot Andre Bucher. Markus went to experience the amazing dune flying of the Namib Dessert where the sandy white dunes rise to over 300m.
When you own a paragliding company with a range ofover 40 or so gliders which glider do you chose to take with you? Markus chose the Alpine - Airwave's mountain wing.
At just 3kg the Alpine is small and light enough to take in your hand baggage, and makes a perfect wing for travelling to far flung locations.
In the Namib Dessert the Alpine proved to be the perfect wing with an amazing ability to rise smoothly overhead even in strong gusty conditions.

Congratulations to Nicole Fedele for winning the World XC Contest 2009. She won against 190 female pilots. We have previously reported about her world record flights on the MAGIC 5 .
Nicole goes into raptures about her glider: I enjoyed the exceptionally high stability in every condition, the fantastic handling and the top performance of this glider. I was only beaten by competition wings. Against all other serial gliders I only had advantages with my small size.

Nicole Fedele sweeps her old record by 30%

\\\"On 19. August 2009 I was in Sorica (SLO) and my target was to improve on my previous female world record (129,4 km on 19. July 2009) so I planned to complete a 164 km out and return flight from Sorica to Piombada (a mountain located about 15 km west of Gemona) and back. I took off just some minutes after 10 was with the very first pilots. Conditions were good especially in the second part of the flight and I had no problem to complete my pre-arranged route. When I arrived in Sorica I decided to fly some kilometers further and then back again to Sorica landing place while my friend Marco was walking to the take-off to pick up our car. After 8 hours in the air and a fabulous 175 km flight I landed: my friends were already there waiting for me with a cool beer to drink to my success!!

Once again I could appreciate the great stability of my Airwave Magic 5 in every situation, enjoying its fantastic handling and superb performance.

Austrian Airline Captain Raimund Pregler tests the Sport 4

Finally I got a chance to test fly the Sport 4. A friend towed me from Piusz Puzta up to 750 m. The first thing I realized was that the Sport 4 is nice and stable to fly on the winch. The next thing was that after tow release I found myself in pretty stable air and quite far away from the next small cumuls cloud - and that the countryside below was flat like a pancake. I made it under the cloud okay but the climb was real marginal in the beginning . Thanks god the Sport 4 is extremely easy to fly in thermals and climbs very well - I am sure this is what saved me from going down. After some time the climb got up to 2-3 meters per second lifting me up to cloud base. 1000 Meters over the Puszta of Hungary - GREAT - now travelled pretty fast and I flew over Sopron to Deutschkreuz which is already in Austria. Things looked good and I enjoyed the scene. However getting in the more hilly areas clouds started to over develope and I decided to go land for safety reasons. I only flew for about 2 hours but I could have flown much further on this nice and scenic afternoon \\\"test flight\\\" if high building TWC would not have been in my way - and I love the Sport 4 !

Congratulations to Aleksandar Santrac who wins the international Bosnia Open 2009 with his Magic 5 - beating the international competition even on the latest Open Class gliders . His most outstanding flight was in the 3rd task - a race where Aleksandar came into goal 45 minutes before the second pilot on his open class Icepeak 3.

Congratulations to Nicole Fedele for her World Record flying a  Airwave Magic 5!
On the 19th July Nicole established a new World Out and Return record of 129.4km from Sorica, Slovenia to Gemona in Italy beating the old world record by around 30%.
Nicole had received her Magic 5 only a few days before. When asked what she thought about her Magic 5 she said ‘The Magic5 is cool, it´s really very stable even on full bar and the handling is a dream.’
Nicole flies a completely standard Magic 5 S with an all up weight of 80kg.

The TANDEM has received an LTF 1-2

This glider has a huge trim range as well as a large weight range, making this tandem the most versatile on the market. The huge trim range through positive and negative trimmer setting means that the tandem can both fly very fast as well as super slow. The LTF measured a top speed of 52km/h at the top weight of 220kg, and the glider still received an LTF1-2 even at this high speed and top end weight. Even at low speeds the TANDEM is amazingly versatile. At 130kg with trimmers full slow (this is usually not done!) the tandem still retained such good handling that it received the LTF1-2.

The wing is lighter than all previous Airwave tandems at just 8.6kg and is the best launching tandem we have ever made. The TANDEM is available in 3 colors.

Now with full LTF 2-3 certification in S,M and L

The Magic 5 is now fully LTF 2-3 certified in three sizes. One of the French local pilots recently launched from Col de Bleine in the South of France and without the help of any technical instruments – no Vario or GPS – landed only 5 ½ hours later approximately 170km later in the Vanoise national park!

He sums it up: “ In only 2 hours more I could have reached the Mont Blanc, but I decided to stop at 5 o'clock because of turbulence (South wind is a bad thing in North Alps!). The Magic 5 is quite easy to control on pitch. On my first flights, I noted the high speed of this wing, but now I'm using the speedbar as often as I used it with my Magic 3... that simply means the new one is as safe as the old - and of course better in performance!”

The COBRA S has now also received the EN:C & LTF 2 certification for the weight range 60-90 kg. Pilot´s who have already flown the COBRA describe it as an excellent wing: a very agile sports wing which convinces with it´s performance during long distance flights as well as during freestyle and/or acro maneuvers.

According to a test report published in the GLEITSCHIRM Magazine in it´s March issue: “Already after the first few flights the test pilots were enthusiastic about the new COBRA.”

It is one of the toughest events of the year. Participants from all over the world compete in the Dolomites in a tough iron man style competition. The grueling event includes Mountain Running, Mountainbike racing, Kayaking and Speed Paragliding. This year 110 Teams from all over the world competeted in this team competition. The Paragliding competition tests speed and glide performance. Competitors have to fly straight from a mountain take off to goal down in the valley as fast as possible. If you fly too fast you don’t make the goal, fly slow and you wont win!. We are happy to congratulate Markus Prantl who achieved the overall win in Paragliding with his Airwave SPEEDMACHINE. Markus not only outperformed all his competitors - with his winning time of 13,28,4 Minuten he reached goal with a big margin over the second place, by flying the course nearly one half minutes faster.

This demonstrates again the outstanding performance of the Airwave SPEEDMACHINE for this type of events.

It is a perfect machine...In all points!!!
Take off: Extremally easy... i can feel the refinement of the wing, Very light, and no used advanced commands to inflation!!!
Termals: it´s as if the go thought the termals, improving the rise!!!
Full-speed: Magic 5 is stability in full-speed...As if there was increased the angle alfa.
Landing: it´s reduces the speed to the extreme without full-stall. it´s a peace of cake.

I tested the Magic5 today. No words. Just I love it!
It\'s not a paraglider, its a spaceship! I can only agree with and confirm all the previously comments about it.
Magic 5 is a perfect machine for cross and competitions!
Now its in top list of my dreams. I hope to have it soon in my hands

Airwave is proud to announce the release of the all new Magic 5. It has just passed the certification and has received EN D as well as LTF2/3. The test pilots reported that it was hard to find any D\'s for the glider and on the full speed asymmetric collapse the glider received a C, which is quite exceptional for such a fast wing.

The Magic 5 is fast. During the certification they measured a top speed of 57km/h at the top weight on the Magic 5 Large. The actual speed measurements at top weight on the Large were stall speed = 27km/h, trim speed = 39km/h and top speed of 57km/h.

The real beauty of the Magic 5 is not in its speed range or its stability at speed but the pure pleasure of handling, especially in thermals.

The Magic 5 is certified EN-D and LTF 2-3 in all 3 sizes (S/M/L).

George Macak a professional test pilot for Paramotor wings test flew the Sport 4 with Paramotor „ Launch is smooth and steady, the climb rate is very good with nice Handing. The glide and sinkrate hands up with throttle down is exceptional good. A great glider when you want to combine Paramotor with thermal flying – and great fun“

Initial feedback from customers on the Sport4 has exceeded all our expectations. We have been literally inundated by orders and as a result the delivery time has gone up significantly.

The moment the Sport4 was certified we ordered as many stock gliders as possible but demand has been so high that all our stock sold immediately and we were getting backordered over 200 gliders at the worst point . We have already highly increased production capacities and the weighting list came down significantely. Do not miss out on the pleasure to fly this great glider and order as early as possible.

AIRWAVE will have a stand at the Stubai Cup in Austria not far from Innsbruck and only a few kilometers away from the new Airwave factory.
Our brand new intermediate, the SPORT 4 (class 1-2) will be shown for the first time. Also you can see our new beginner glider GECKO, the mountain gliders ALPINE and ALPINE extreme as well as the new Acro wing SLINGSHOT and of course all of our current models. You can also see prototypes of our new competition wings and last but not least our latest Speedriding wing CARVE.
